How POLLE works

POLLE connects three people. A local, such as a taxi driver, guide or host, recommends a place to someone they already look after and sends them a POLLE link. The tourist claims a discount in rupees, with no payment upfront, and uses it at the counter. The business verifies the visit and only then pays the reward it set, split between the tourist's discount, that local and POLLE.

The tourist

You get a POLLE link from someone you trust, usually on WhatsApp. It opens in any browser, with nothing to install, and shows the place, your discount in rupees and who recommended it. No payment needed upfront.

Create a free account with Google or email and the discount lands in your wallet, valid for 15 days. At the counter, tap Show to Staff: staff see your discount, your phone number and a POLLE reference code, and take the discount off your bill.

After paying, submit your visit with the units and the bill amount. The rupee figure is an estimate until the business verifies your visit; then it is locked in. No link? Browse the Discover feed and claim a deal yourself.

The local

Taxi drivers, guides and hosts already tell their passengers, guests and tour clients where to eat, stay and go. POLLE turns that recommendation into a link with a real discount attached.

A local joins free with a WhatsApp number and a UPI id, and each business approves them before they can refer guests to it. For each guest, the local enters the guest's name and number, chooses how much of their share becomes the guest's discount, and shares the link on WhatsApp.

When the visit is verified, the local's share is worked out automatically, and the business pays it straight to the local's UPI id.

The business

A restaurant, stay, tour operator or rental sets a reward for one verified customer, per visit, night stay, order, session or activity, and approves the locals who recommend it.

It pays nothing upfront, no monthly fee, and nothing at all if nobody shows up. Locals see its trust score and average payment time before they join, so paying on time matters.

Verification

A visit counts only when the business confirms it. The tourist shows their POLLE screen at the counter, and the business types the tourist's phone number, the bill and the number of units into its dashboard and taps Verify.

POLLE's database works out the discount and every share at that moment and then locks them, so nobody calculates money by hand. A bill below the business's minimum is rejected automatically.

If a business is slow to verify, the tourist can send it a ready-made WhatsApp reminder from their discount card.

Money flow in plain words

The business sets one reward. When a local sent the tourist and the visit is verified, it splits three ways: the tourist's discount comes off the bill, the local gets their share, and a small platform fee goes to POLLE.

The business pays the local straight to their UPI id, so POLLE never holds that money, and settles POLLE's fee from its dashboard. The tourist pays POLLE nothing, and if nobody shows up, nobody pays anything.

If something goes wrong, there is a way to raise it: a tourist can dispute a discount that was not applied, and a local can dispute a payout that never arrived.
